ABOUT ME
Proud Graduate of
College London
I've always loved to draw, paint and doodle but it took me a little while to work out that there was a fantastic career out there where you could actually do that for a living.
I studied English Language and Literature at Newcastle University and then worked in a web design agency in Edinburgh and then as Head of Digital at English Heritage (Historic England) in London managing a busy web team. I set the organisation up on social media and introduced mobile and responsive design as it was just evolving. I enjoyed this work a great deal but always missed the hands on creative work that I used to do when I started building websites at the beginning of my career.
So, in 2016 I re-trained as a graphic designer at Shillington College in London, and whilst there I also discovered a love for surface pattern design. I have taken all 4 modules of the acclaimed "Make it in Design" Surface Design School and enjoy making fun, original patterns for gifts, homeware, textile and stationery.

I set up the humble line in 2020 after freelancing under my own name Anne Wright Design for 4 years. The name came from the idea that all design begins with that first humble line that you draw on your sketchpad or on your computer screen, that transforms a blank sheet into the beginnings of something magical.

I live in Hertfordshire with my husband, two teenage children, some fish and my little dog Redford.
